Finding love in a tumultuous world
The importance of love and compassion, Jimmy from LinkedIn, money as treatment, shopping psychology tricks
Hi friend,
This week, we have a huge election happening here in the US. It’s been a heated point of conversation in my social circles, support groups, and in media everywhere.
Regardless of who wins, the ugly truths that have recently surfaced will not simply go away overnight. Racism, intolerance, misogyny... there is still a lot of work ahead of us to bring our country (and frankly, our world) together. A more equitable president does not relinquish the work that each and every one of us must commit to upholding.
We all have the power to create change. In our relationships, our families, our work, and larger communities, we all have the capacity to create spaces that we want to see more of in the world. Even just starting with ourselves, if everyone committed, the world would instantly look like a different place.
Love and compassion for one another regardless of ethnicity, nationality, skin color, disability, belief, religion, education, sexual orientation, gender identity… these are the things that pay dividends for future generations.
Regardless of who becomes the next president, our communities rely on us to bring it together. With love, compassion, and empathy, we can build bridges that can withstand even the strongest storms.
Mindfulness post-election
A free/donation-based livestream on November 4 by Jack Kornfield and Konda Mason to help us navigate through these political challenges. And for Asian womxn, free breathwork class today (Nov 3) with an event by The Cosmos.
A truly expensive rehab
“I was hesitant to try it — like, hey, is this legal?” said Dr. Shawn Ryan, the chief medical officer and president of BrightView Health, an addiction treatment provider with locations throughout Ohio, which started using contingency management last year. But the results have been striking, he said, adding, “I’m talking about significant improvements in attendance to therapy sessions, significant reductions in drug and alcohol use.”
The treatment? Good 'ol cash and prizes.
